This roomy, fully finished basement at a Buford lake house needed a few aesthetic and structural updates to function as an area suitable for both a casual, pool-side setting and elegant affairs.
Updates to the existing, neutral environment included all trim painted a dark chocolate, bead board insets at the darker, coffer ceiling beams, stone flooring throughout both the interior and new cabana areas, new windows and doors to match the existing; and, the color scheme's transformation from a single, peachy beige to more dramatic shades of chocolate and vanilla reinforces casual elegance.
Structural reconfigurations were called for to add more finished space to both the interior and exterior. The existing patio adjacent to the Screened Porch was enclosed to provide an additional, finished sitting area overlooking the breathtaking lakeside panorama. The renovated area includes large, arched windows, coffer ceilings, and brick walls accented with a custom herringbone pattern.
The existing Screened Porch located just off of the pool became an enticing cabana, which provides the perfect oasis between inside and out. The brick walls of the new cabana match the walls of the adjacent enclosed sitting area; and, the stone flooring and paneled ceiling match the basement's interior. With full kitchen amenities, including a TV, wet bar, refrigerator, large grill, and sink area, the new cabana provides great entertaining possibilities.
