How to select a Contractor. Key Questions
February 2012

Before jumping into your renovation project, get to know your contractor. Interview several companies and don’t be fooled by the lowest bid (you might get what you pay for!). Here are some key questions to ask when selecting a contractor for your project:

Is your company licensed & insured? Insurance is an important credential for contracting companies to possess, so be sure to ask. Often, small, “neighborhood” companies are not insured and the risk the client takes in hiring a non- insured contractor is big. Non-insured companies may be unable to protect your job or home if an unexpected incident occurred (i.e. fire caused by machinery used, damages to your property, injured worker, etc.). You, the homeowner, would be responsible for these events when using a non-insured contractor.
Using a non-licensed contractor could also result in a job not being completed within the promised time frame, or even at all, due to lack of funds, mismanaged projects, and high staff turn-over. Also, if the work does not meet your expectations in terms of quality or design, you have no bureau that will support your complaint (and no agency to enforce that the work be repaired or re-configured).

Our Credentials. From our company’s beginning in 1987, we have built our business on a strong, customer-oriented foundation. Our loyal team of contractors, many of whom have been with us from the beginning, have helped our family-owned & operated business grow into the multi-million dollar operation that it is today specializing in all areas of contracting services – from residential to commercial structures, small to long-term projects.

Totally Dependable Contracting Services has been a member of the BBB in good standing with zero complaints. Totally Dependable are members of national associations – NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry), NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) and NKAB (National Kitchen and Bath Association). Along with these, we are members of HBAG (Home Builder’s Association of Ga.).

When you hire Totally Dependable for your project, you have the confidence of obtaining a team of industry professionals.

What is your experience with this project? Whether your project is a home renovation or commercial structure, you should work with a company who has experience in working with similar projects. Inexperienced contractors will not have the design and structural knowledge required for certain jobs, which often translates into a longer installation or even mistakes that may appear in the finished project within a short time.

Our Expertise. With a professional team from construction labor to project management and over 75 years of combined technical expertise, we have every project covered. We specialize in personalized service and custom work. No project is too large and all are completed within our quoted time frame. Our clients gain contracting experts. Do you have references? Always check references and review pictoral portfolios! A company who refuses to provide references has a reason.

Totally Dependable = Customer Satisfaction. Most of our projects are repeat business or referrals. In this competitive building industry, our customers are our best advertisement. We will happily provide references upon request - you may also review client testimonials, as well as a photo gallery of recent projects, on our web site.
